Today, Aadhaar Card has become very important as an Identity proof. Everywhere, we are asked to link to our Aadhaar card either by the bank or by telecom operators. While travelling on the train, we can show our Aadhaar as I-Card to the ticket checker. So, in short, Aadhaar Card is very important. But what when we lost our Aadhaar card by chance? Should we apply for new Aadhaar Card or we can retrieve that? The answer is there is no need to apply for new one, as we can download Aadhaar card online. I will tell you in details that how you can download Aadhaar Card online or what is the procedure to download Aadhaar Card online.
NOTE-> If you have not registered your mobile number then first register your mobile number. For this, you have to visit Permanent Aadhaar Centre(PAC). Click here to find out PAC.
How to Download Aadhaar Card Online
It is an official website for all issues related to Aadhaar Card. We can check Aadhaar card status, Download Aadhaar, retrieve lost UID/EID, verify email/mobile number etc.
Click on Retrieve Lost UID/EID
After visiting the website that is mentioned in the first step, you will see there are many options. You have to click on Retrieve Lost UID/EID and then you will be redirected to a new page. Here UID stands for Unique Identification number means your Aadhaar number and EID stands for Enrollment Identification number that was issued when you apply for Aadhaar card that means it is proof that you have applied for Aadhaar card. Also, EID helps in tracking Aadhaar Card status.
- On this new page, there are two options in the leftmost column that is Aadhaar Number(UID) and Enrollment Number(EID). You have to select Aadhaar Number(UID) to retrieve your lost Aadhaar Card. You can choose the second option if you have lost the enrollment number and want to retrieve that.
Fill All details
Now you will see there is one column of Personal details. In this column, you have to fill your all details correctly to download Aadhaar Card online.
> Fill your Full Name that was mentioned on your Aadhaar Card.
> Now enter the Email address or you can enter your registered mobile number with your Aadhaar Card.
> Now enter the security code and hit the send OTP option.
Check your mobile phone or email to get OTP and enter the obtained OTP in the rightmost column “enter OTP”.
Then, you will observe that a file has been download into your device.
Opening the download file
Now you have downloaded your Aadhaar Card successfully but this download file(Your Adhar Card) is password protected. Now you are thinking what is the password, isn’t it? Don’t worry about it, In the password section, just enter your Pin number that was mention on the Aadhaar card. It means the required password is your address Pin number. Congrats, You have now your Aadhaar Card.
You can also download the Aadhaar Card with the help of Aadhaar Number. I am going to mention the steps below. 🙂
Download Aadhar card online with Aadhaar Number
- Under the Aadhaar Enrolment Column, select the option Download Aadhaar.
On clicking the Download Aadhaar option, you will be redirected to a new page(see above pic). On this new page, you see there is two toggle button that is I have Enrolment Id and I have Aadhaar on the top. Select the I have Aadhaar option.
Filling Personal Details
> Enter the 12 digit Aadhaar Number.
> Now enter your exact full name.
> After entering the name, fill the pin code.
> Now enter the captcha shown.
> Hit the Get One Time Password button and you will get OTP on your registered mobile number.
> Enter the obtained password and click on Validate and Download button.
Opening the downloaded PDF file
The downloaded PDF file is your Aadhaar Card but it will be password protected. So, enter your PIN number as the password and You have now the Aadhaar Card.
Download Aadhaar card online with Enrolment ID
All the steps of downloading Aadhaar Card with Enrolment ID are about same as downloading with Aadhaar Number, the only difference in the second step. In the second step, choose the option I have Enrolment ID option and enter the 14 digit Enrolment Number with Date Timestamp.
How to Download Aadhaar Card Online Using MAADHAAR App
UIDAI has launched a new application called MAADHAR(Mobile Aadhaar). It allows us to carry our Aadhaar Card on our mobile phone. It means now there is no need to carry Aadhar card physically, You can show as proof of Identification in your mobile also. Now I am going to tell you how to use MAADHAAR App.

- Now you have to create a password. So, create the password and remember that.
- After this, you have to enter your Aadhaar card details.
- Then you will get an OTP on the registered mobile number. The app will automatically read the OTP. This means registered mobile number should be present on the device.
- Now you are synced with UIDAI database.
